Facing depression can be a hard thing to do. We all need motivational quotes to brighten our day!

We all dream of a happy life without any kind of problem.

However, real life does not always work that way.
Sometimes, problems arise. Difficulties that seem impossible to overcome, from serious health issues to financial problems, many things can make even the most optimistic person worried about their future. And this is when one of the most terrible enemies in a person’s life comes to the surface with all its devastating power: depression. Depression affects people from all walks of life, in every country, no matter their background. It can affect people of all ages as well. It’s estimated that 16.2 million adults in the United States, or 6.7 percent of American adults, have had at least one major depressive episode in a year. In the whole world, some 300 million people suffer from depression.

According to verywellmind, “depression can begin at any age, and it can affect people of all races and socioeconomic statuses.”

Here are some of the statistics on the demographics of people with depression:

  • The median age of depression onset is 32.5 years old.
  • The prevalence of adults with a major depressive episode is highest among individuals between 18 and 25.
  • 11.3% of adults who report two or more races have experienced a major depressive episode in the past year.
  • 8.7% of women have depression.
  • 5.3% of men have depression.

A CDC survey revealed that prevalence rates among men and women have been fairly consistent over the last decade.

Research has shown that women experience depression at roughly twice the rate as men. While the exact causes of this gender disparity are unclear, this increased prevalence in women is often linked to factors such as hormones, life circumstances, and stress.

But depression can be beaten. It’s not an all-time disease that is going to sadly accompany the lives of those who are suffering from this devastating mental disease.

There are, of course, many ways to overcome depression. A good starting point is to read and repeat some inspiring quotes filled with positive energy. They will surely boost the overall mood of those suffering from this terrible mental disease. Pass this article on to a friend, relative, or acquaintance suffering from depression. It will be helpful!

When this gets a million views, I'm going to print out the stats and give them to the owner of this home. Random DIY signs are one of my favorite things. Think about it...what sort of intense need are these people satisfying when they decide the only course of action is to make their own signs and put them on public display? What's the story here? Why did they decide to have these face the 7-11 gas station? In all seriousness, I'm sure someone working in a mental health or suicide prevention field can make use of this stock photo.
